On April 28th, 2000. Open Water instructor Yuri Lipski would dive the infamous Blue Hole found close to the Egyptian city of Dahab, near the shore of the Red Sea. Against the advice of other divers, Yuri would proceed to dive into the blue hole with only a single cylinder of air and a camera. Unknown to Yuri, is that he would be recording his final moments on his dive.
This video covers the Blue Hole of Dahab, the dive of Yuri Lipski and the tourism environment of Dahab and diving the blue hole that contributes to these accidents. I also go over the predive planning and issues that led to the death of Yuri Lipski. I also talks about the perception of Russian divers in Dahab. And finally, I cover the aftermath of the accident.
