The Gollum's Cave Disaster | Cave Diving Gone Wrong
For decades, the water-trickling hole sat unnoticed behind a pocket of nondescript trees on Provo's Y Mountain - hidden to all but a few.
But that changed on August 17th, 2005, when five friends in Provo Utah entered the cave, but only 1 returned.
This video details the events that lead to the Gollum's cave disaster in Provo, Utah and also the impact it had on the caving and speleological community in the state. Located on Y Mountain near BYU, this cave became popular with college students and local which ultimately lead to the disaster.
