On June 12, 2011. 2 divers would re-enter a flooded soviet nuclear base near the small Latvian village of Vaiņode. After diving the site and entering 1 of the missile silos, they decided to resurface and return later that day with a third diver. The 3 divers would enter the water and proceed to dive to a maximum depth of 34 meters. But only 2 of them would return.
In this video I cover the disaster that occurred in the abandoned Vainode Nuclear Base located in Latvia. I had some communication with people close to Aidas and the accident, but there are still more questions than answers but I tried my best to get as much details as possible.
You will also hear me struggle with the pronunciation of some of the names, but to be fair, I'm not Lithuanian :|
This was a unique incident, and I'm glad I was able to be the first to cover it.
