Russian and Ukrainian prisoners swapped in biggest exchange since start of war
A total of 115 Russian and 115 Ukrainian troops were released on Saturday in one of the biggest PoW swaps of the war, the military in both countries said. Most of the Russians are conscripts captured in Kursk, according to the Russian human rights ombudsman, Tatyana Moskalkova.
Ukraine invaded Russia’s Kursk region this month, seizing territory near the border and capturing conscripts deployed there. Parents of the conscripts have blamed the top brass for throwing non-professional soldiers on the front line.
