Craving the sweet, savory, and smoky magic of Japanese street food? In this video, we're making Classic Yakisoba, a popular Japanese stir-fried noodle dish packed with chewy noodles, crisp vegetables, tender pork belly, and an umami-rich sauce you can make from scratch at home.
Whether you're new to Japanese cooking or a seasoned food lover, this easy yakisoba recipe is a must-try. It comes together in under 30 minutes and brings all the flavor of Japanese festival food straight to your kitchen — no special tools needed!
This recipe feeds 2 people.
🔹Ingredients:🔹
2 packets yakisoba noodles
200 g / 0.4 lbs thin pork belly slices
1 medium size carrot
3-4 cabbage leaves
½ white or yellow onion
3-4 shiitake mushrooms
a handful of mung bean sprouts
Yakisoba Sauce:
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp soy sauce
4 tsp oyster sauce
4 tsp ketchup
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
🔹Preparation:🔹
1.) Mix 2 tsp sugar, 2 tsp soy sauce, 4 tsp oyster sauce, 4 tsp ketchup, and 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce. Stir until smooth.
2.) Julienne 1 carrot, chop 3–4 cabbage leaves, slice shiitake mushrooms, ½ onion, and optional spring onion greens.
3.) Cut thin pork belly slices into 3–4 cm pieces. You can sub with chicken or beef.
4.) Brown precooked yakisoba noodles in 1 tbsp oil, then splash in water to loosen. Set aside.
5.) In the same pan, cook pork in 1 tsp oil until no longer pink. Add onions and cook until translucent.
6.) Toss in carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, mung bean sprouts, and spring onion. Stir-fry until just tender.
7. ) Return noodles to the pan. Pour sauce over everything. Toss to coat and slightly char. Garnish with aonori, beni shoga, or bonito flakes.
