Paolo Di Paolo was a prominent Italian photographer in the 1950s. He captured post-war Italy during its transition from an agrarian society to an industrial one. His work is characterized by a unique blend of glamour and realism.

Paolo documented the transformation of Italian cinema and culture. He showcased then movie stars, writers, directors, and also factory workers, and the poor.

Di Paolo's images were featured in renowned publications like Il Mondo, which offer a glimpse into am era of elegance and transformation. In a way, his work makes him a significant figure in Italian photography and a historian of sorts.

His approach to photography was spontaneous and unobtrusive, in other words, he used a point and gone method, which later many prominent photographers like Daido Moriyama also adopted.

Di Paolo's photographs are not only aesthetically pleasing but undeniably important (historically), as he was capturing moments of cultural transition in after WWII.
