German chancellor calls for investigation into attack on Gaza hospital
Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, has called for a thorough investigation into an attack on a hospital in Gaza.
President Biden has appeared to blame Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad for the slaughter at the al-Ahli Arab Hospital, claiming he thought the attack was carried out by the “other team”.
Speaking within the first hour of his arrival in Israel, and sitting alongside Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, Biden said he was in the country “for a simple reason, I want the people of Israel, the people in the world to know where the United States stands”.
Referring to the blast, he then added: “Based on what I have seen, it was done by the other team.”
