Dream Lantern x Charlie Brown - RADWIMPS x Coldplay | NTU Guitar Ensemble
NTU Guitar Ensemble's annual concert Nocturne 2024, held at The Republic Cultural Centre (TRCC) on 23 March 2024.
Our student conductor, Dustin, has creatively brought the worlds of J-rock and English pop rock with this medley. Dream Lantern, by the Japanese band RADWIMPS, is wistful yet intense, while Charlie Brown by Coldplay has an anthemic tune with enigmatic lyrics. Musically, both songs are similar in melodic structure. Their key signatures also differ by a perfect fifth, just like that between an alto and prime guitar, thus making for a perfect – if not wholly ingenious – mash-up.
