Hi everybody! If you're using the Godot Engine and are curious about ways to speed up your game development process, you may be interested in this tutorial about Autotiles!

Autotiles are a great way to drastically increase the speed at which you create levels, because it automatically figures out what tiles should be displayed at any given location. You don't need to worry about selecting the correct tile to place in your scene every time you want to place a tile. You just need to select the Autotile that you create in your TileSet and start drawing! Godot will do the rest.

This video details how to go about setting up a TileMap for both a 2x2 bitmask and a 3x3 minimal bitmask. Not sure what the difference is? Then watch and find out.

Additionally, I will go over the basics of setting up collisions on your newly created Autotiles, so that way the characters in your game will get stopped by walls instead of walking right through them!
