Refrigerators often come to the repair shop with motors that won't start. There can be several reasons for this: a faulty starting relay, a burnt winding, or a seized compressor. In this video, we'll discuss burnt windings, a seized motor, and how to start such a motor yourself. First, we'll discuss why it's important to know how to start a motor without a relay. As a technician, I need this to check how the refrigerator reaches the temperature in the refrigerator and freezer compartments; any further repairs to this unit depend on this. If the refrigerator reaches the required temperature in an hour or an hour and a half, you can simply replace the motor and that's it. If the desired temperature isn't observed in one of the compartments, then you need to check for leaks and whether the capillary tube or filter is clogged. Basically, I've answered the question of why I start the motor without a relay. I want to warn you right away that you can't operate the refrigerator without a starting relay, as the wiring could catch fire. The relay isn't designed to turn the refrigerator on and off when it reaches a certain temperature; the thermostat does that. The relay is needed to protect and start the motor, and its operation mode is completely independent of it. If the motor is seized, I use a 50 mF capacitor to start it; I showed the wiring diagram in this video. In the video, I also talked a little about replacing the motor in a single- and double-chamber refrigerator, or more specifically, whether it's possible to install a motor from a single-chamber refrigerator onto a double-chamber refrigerator and vice versa. Overall, the video is quite interesting, especially for beginners. Watch it, subscribe to the channel, like it, and enjoy!
