How to choose a washing machine drive belt yourself? Many people make a big mistake when choosing a belt based solely on its length. Belt markings should be treated like a product code. For example, if a belt is marked 1200 mm long, this doesn't mean the part will be that long. Pay special attention to the letters indicating elasticity (EL, MAEL, EP, PHE). The point is that if you see the letter "E" on your belt in any version (variants are listed above), the actual belt length will not match the indicated marking. Also, pay attention to the grooves, or rather the width of the grooves—this is the so-called profile. There are two types of belt profiles for washing machines: H and J; there are simply no others. Now let's return to belt elasticity: why some belts can stretch while others cannot, and how to determine which elasticity belt you need. In theory, it's simple: if your washing machine has the ability to tension the belt using the motor, then you need a part without the letter "E." If your washing machine has a motor mounted on four mounts, without the ability to tension, you will need an elastic belt. In practice, both types of belts can be installed on both machines—the key is to choose the right groove length and width. Many people pay attention to the color of this part, but as a mechanic, I can say one thing: I personally don't see a difference in quality. Therefore, if you happen to be unable to find a belt of a certain color, you can replace it with a belt of a different color; I think it will be just as good.
