Ionic and Covalent Bonding Simulation from AACT
The Ionic and Covalent Bonding Simulation is a great tool for high school chemistry students learning how to predict whether elements will form ionic or covalent bonds.
Students choose two elements at random and are shown their Lewis dot structures. They then predict whether and ionic or covalent bond will form, and how many of each element will combine.
The correct bond is then displayed. For covalent bonds, the molecular geometry is also given.
It's a fantastic way to help chemistry students visualize why elements form ionic or covalent compounds.
