I've been curious to try the Machinedrum as a master bus processor for the Octatrack. This idea began on the Octatrack with a re-sample of comb filter synthesis, and a kick sample from Machinedrum processed by Analog Heat. The Octatrack provides 4 'synth' sounds (one of which is created from continuously re-sampling the three other 'synth' sounds) and one kick/perc voice. The Machinedrum is used extensively for processing the main outs of the Octatrack, and it also provides additional percussion - an EFM bass drum, P-I snare, and P-I hi-hat.
Although I'm unlikely to repeat this configuration often in the future, I was quite pleased with the Machinedrum's performance as a master bus processor in both traditional and experimental applications.
Recorded direct from Machinedrum main outputs, with post-production compression, stereo image adjustment, and limiting applied.
