Making a Large Large Shadow box with Circuit - Andrew Jones/ArtisticBrit
For Christmas, my wife bought me the Cricut Maker, and this is what I made with it. More than a paper art craft for kids, this next level large shadow box is an installation I created for the school art show, earlier this year. I wanted to show the students how to bring graphic design into a sculpted project using my Cricut Maker. so decided that a paper art sculpture would be the perfect idea to express how the rule of thirds and composition would work in this concept of a large shadow box.

This large shadow box of papercraft is about 10 inches deep, 27 inches tall and 48 inches across, this large shadow box is home built with wood from HomeDepot and LEDs from Amazon.

I began papercraft just like anyone when I was a very young child. Using kid-safe scissors and paper glue and a brush, I use to make my papercraft creations from a very young age. I believe it gave me a depth and understanding of how things work, about how things fit together and work.
Fast forward many many years and out of the blue, I decided to sculpt a paper art, shadow box for a high school art show exhibit, to help show the students what can be done with a little imagination and forethought and planning. In my blog post, I go much deeper into the designing and making of the papercraft piece.
I have a much much more elaborate design in the works, that is in its infancy with the design stage, for a very special individual, near me in New York City. This art piece will have paper crafted flowers, buildings, water, nature, and be more fun and creative piece of artwork in general.
