Kamala Harris described Donald Trump as a dangerous and “un-serious man” as she formally accepted the Democratic party’s presidential nomination at the national convention in Chicago.
The vice-president used a 35-minute speech to promise a “new way forward” and to be a leader for all Americans should she beat Donald Trump in November and claim the White House.
Harris, 59, said that as commander-in-chief she would ensure the US “always has the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world”. She also criticised Republican attempts to take away women’s reproductive freedoms, saying: “Simply put, they are out of their minds.”
