Chill Guitar Beat | Neo Soul Guitar Solo
Hello everyone and thank you for watching the video (and/or reading this text description). This here is a chill guitar beat I made and released with the team over at Chill Beats Music. Let me talk you through what was used in this track to create the vibes...
The Piano: I made the beat in Ableton using Addictive Keys "Jazzish" setting (a grand piano with a sort of washy, but not too washy sound). Of course, the piano needed some sauce on it so I shaped the tone of it with a bit of Ableton stock 8 band EQ to control some low mids. I then added Waves J37 tape emulator for some warmth and wobble (lofi af right?). I then hit Waves DBX 160 Stereo compressor for some transient control and loads of color (this is a compressor I used religiously in the anolog world and the sound is like no other). And then of course, I side-chained this piano to the kick to get it out of the way and move a bit in rhythm with the beat.
The Guitar: As you can see, I played this on my 1995 Fender US Lonestar Strat (the predecessor of the Fat Strat). Definitely used the neck picup for the single coil sound. Ran this through amplitube 4 and a preset I made using a solid state bass preamp, with 50W EL34 tube amp, a stomp pedal compressor, a vintage bass cabinet, and a U87 condenser mic. As for the fx on the guitar, I'm sending a bit of the guitar to Valhalla Space Modulator for a bit of chorus-type width. Then for some depth, I am sending a bit of the guitar to the Valhalla Super Massive reverb (love this thing)(and I am hitting a compresser and EQ after the verb to taper it down a bit). Last, I am automating a delay send to the analog echo box by Nomad Factory, that is hitting a bit of reverb and EQ.
