Editing Vocals in Ableton Live: Controlling Sibilance
In this video we look at how to control sibilance in a vocal production. Prior to the mix, I ALWAYS take a listen for harsh sibilance because regardless of how high quality the recording, there will often be some wild sibilance to control. If you don't tame it down at the beginning, it will really pop out at you later down the line in the mix when using compression. Don't skip this step and I hope this streamlined process helps you get the best results quickly. Also, there are de-esser plugins that can do the job for this and I actually use those as well, however, I always start by controlling the main sibilance issues at the clip level PRIOR to de-essing. The more you practice this, the quicker you will get. Let me know any questions.
