This is the second video in a series of eight that takes a comprehensive look at the parabola.
In this introductory video we look at how to draw a parabola give its focus and its directrix. From that we calculate the constant p and find the vertex (h,k). In this basic parabola, the vertex is (0,0), p=1 and the parabola opens upward. We also use this information to give the equation of this parabola in vertex form.
