Murder Holes! - The TERRIFYING Castle Defensive System
Inside of castles there was a brutal and savage method of defence that guards used to protect themselves from attackers. During the Medieval times, there were many castle sieges, and because of this murder holes were built into the gatehouses. These were holes in the ceiling of a gatehouse where guards would fire arrows and throw projectiles and all manner of things onto an invading force. Many invaders would be caught inside of a killing zone, and the guards would be able to easily defend the position. They were also very safe protected behind the thick walls.
