Sega Confidential Genesis 32X - Original VHS Promo Tape Capture
This is an original capture of the promotional video, "Sega Confidential: A Look into the Future Featuring Genesis 32X," on VHS. An odd piece of retro video game memorabilia that I had kicking around and thought I could share with everyone!
Sega's 32X brought us Knuckles Chaotix, Kolibri, Virtua Racing Deluxe, and-oh yeah! This VHS tape chock full of music from the U.S. version of Sonic CD and some exquisite "acting."
This was a free rental that Sega sent around to video stores in the mid-90s to try and get people jazzed for their upcoming 32-bit add-on for their aging Genesis.
It's an interesting-if eclectic mix of gameplay, skits, psychics and lame folk duos set to the music of Sonic the Hedgehog CD featuring commercials and exclusive gameplay for Sonic & Knuckles, NFL '95, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and Ecco the Tides of Time.
The tape was captured though a Canopus ADVC110 from a VCR playing the original tape. Now it is digitally preserved for all of your Retronauts to stare in amazement, or point and laugh. No matter how you enjoy this rare peek into this piece of the tower of power, you're sure to find something interesting.
