After 30 years, the lost Splatterhouse RPG-Splatter World has finally surfaced — on 4chan, of all places — and it’s every bit as bizarre and fascinating as you’d hope. In this video, Retro Nick dives into Splatter World, the canceled Splatterhouse RPG originally planned for release in 1993, which aimed to turn Namco’s cult horror brawler into a full-blown role-playing game.
We’ll explore the game’s history, examine the original clues to its existence — including the Namco Museum of Art video and Orochi’s promotional tape — and take a look at the newly discovered ROM to see what could’ve been if Splatter World had seen the light of day. Was it truly a lost treasure… or was it better left buried?
