A deputy nursery manager has been found guilty of causing the death of a nine-month-old baby who suffocated on a bean bag after being “virtually immobilised” by her carer as a punishment.
Kate Roughley, 37, subjected Genevieve Meehan to an “illogical and disturbing” campaign of hostility at Tiny Toes nursery in Cheadle Hulme, Manchester crown court was told.
The child was found unresponsive and blue in May 2022 after Roughley strapped her to a bean bag following days of antagonistic behaviour towards her.
Roughley was impassive in the dock as the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict after a five-week trial.
