The US military is often called the world's strongest.
However, the US military has a painful dark history.
This is because a division was nearly annihilated by the enemy,
and even its commander was captured.
Major General William F. Dean, commander of the US 24th Division,
was a man with a combat rating of around 99, having served in World War II.
However, the US 24th Division he commanded was completely unprepared for combat.
On July 3, 1950,
North Korean forces finally broke through the Han River defense line held by General Kim Hong-il.
Now, only the US military could halt the North Korean advance.
However, the US 24th Division suffered repeated defeats at Osan, Pyeongtaek, and Cheonan. Even the Geumgang defense line, which General Dean had established to buy time, was breached.
