Identity and Tone of Voice in Copywriting - How words shape brands with +Carolyn Capern and +Michelle Lowery

First impressions count. This is just as true online as offline, and possibly even more so.  In the real world, we often have many more contextual references to frame a first impression, such as how we've met, where, and when.

Online, our first impression of a website may be the landing page after we clicked on a search result, or some article we arrived at from a link elsewhere.  There's less real-world context in many cases, and we seek to judge whether we can trust a page and site very quickly.

Professional design surely plays a part, just like appearances matter in the real world.  But even more important is how this person, or website speaks to us.  The way we connect, or not, with the words on the website are a huge part of how we will feel about the website itself, and the business behind it.

Of course, its not just about first impressions, either.  Brand is largely about consistent qualities.  Style, tone of voice, clarity, and many more aspects of copywriting become the ways we assess the 'personality' of a business.

This week we'll discuss copywriting in the context of brand, identity and tone of voice.  Expect our usual mix of looking at both the philosophical ideas, and the practical tips.

Join our wonderful guests +Carolyn Capern and +Michelle Lowery, the  #isoosichat regulars +Ammon Johns, +Bill Slawski, and +ISOOSI Research Engine for this discussion.
