This is the sequel of the previous upload. In between these two uploads, we did some extreme trainings. One of them was WAY harder than what is seen in these two videos. I guess you'll need to be patient to see what I'm talking about. This time we have extended the trail to reach 7.5 miles (12 kilometers), and we are WAY faster than before. It's only natural because the last time, it was in the middle of August. Being baked like that does not exactly encourage your body to perform better.
Once again, we moved up this very steep slope for 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) to reach the first top of the sierra. The civilian POGs were using the easy way, an aerial tramway above us. But not us! We are infantry mas0chists. Halfway the above length, we entered the real difficult trail. A loooong staircase that kept going up and up and up. This part was the most difficult in our trail and I'm glad it was the first one to be done. In our psychologies we knew that "the most difficult part is behind us" and that helped us enjoy everything else. Just a few feet below the peak, we took photos and had our second little break. Our next stop would be the next peak, standing even higher. But thankfully, the path was much easier for that one.
After our little rest, we passed through the actual mountain top and entered a beautiful cloudy environment. There is no better feeling than smelling a cold cloud after pushing your body to become a furnace. We walked and ran on the plateau until it became an uphill again. Behind the misty rocks, the final goal appeared. A mountain refuge house. In no time we got ourselves up there. It was crowded with people in my surprise. Apparently there is a road going around the mountain that goes there. So the place had a restaurant /cafe' and everything.
We sat there, had some water, lunch, and watched the view. Our next goal was visible. An entire valley that goes all the way down to the starting point. We had our fun and now it was time for the REAL fun. Running all the way down. We had some fast walking breaks of course. Especially around sharp rocks and cliffs. Our competitive spirits didn't allow us to show any weakness during the expedition. But after sitting in our car for a while on our way home... we certainly felt it. I'll at least speak for myself and say that I became a grandpa with arthritis while trying to get out and walk to my door. So fun! Simply getting getting ready again before all hell breaks loose.
