Bumble Bee wing movement @ 10,000 frames per second using color and mono NOVA S16 high speed cameras
Bumblebees can flap their wings above 250 times per second. These tiny insects are an important pollinator and as you can see the pollen basket on the back area containing pollen which is often yellow, orange or sometimes red.
Syncing a color and monochrome Photron high speed camera together can show different information that may be important. Monochrome cameras produce colorless images. Their pixels absorb red, green, and blue colors without any filter. This would mean they come with higher sensitivity owing to a higher light absorption rate. In color cameras, a Color Filter Array or Bayer Filter is overlaid on the sensor to admit photons of the desired wavelength. This decreases the light sensitivity of the sensor.
