Netanyahu says Rafah strike went tragically wrong
Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, said an air strike in the area of Rafah in southern Gaza that killed dozens of Palestinians was not intended to cause civilian casualties and would be investigated.
Israeli airstrikes on an area where displaced Palestinians have taken shelter have reportedly killed dozens of people. Aid groups said the strikes targeted the Tel al-Sultan neighbourhood where civilians were sheltering in tents, igniting a fire. Witnesses on the ground said many were trapped in their tents in a location classified as a humanitarian area.
