Полный привод. Трофи: Мурманск-Владивосток 2 / Four-Wheel Drive. Trophy: Murmansk-Vladivostok 2 by 1C-Avalon, 2010.
Techland's Chrome engine has been used in many games, but the most well-known ones are Xpand Rally, Xpand Rally Xtreme, along with GM Rally and Classic Car Racing. However, for a number of years, the Russian 1C-Avalon team have been pumping out 4X4 offroad racing titles.
Most of their games have been proper offroading (getting stuck in mud, using winches, full-on trial sections, much like Spintires), with the most well known one outside of Russia being Off Road Drive, ported to Western audiences in 2011. Off Road Drive was actually the third in a series in Russia. Their other semi-well-known titles are ones around the Russian UAZ and American Hummer vehicles.
Alongside these titles, the company made a stab at covering the real-life Expedition Trophy: Murmansk-Vladivostok rally raid event, which goes right across Russia, some 12,500 km in length. As I've covered game based around Dakar, Baja and Master Rallye on this channel, I decided to include this one too, as it's thematically similar.
The game shown here is actually the second to cover the real-life event. The first seems to be little more than a re-skin of Xpand Rally, with every stage in heavy snow and a range of standard-looking 4X4 vehicles. This sequel expands the roster with rally raid, expedition and trial vehicles, and many stages (21 in the full expedition mode).
I've recaptured this on Windows 10 64bit, thanks to Алексей Воронов for pointing me to an updated engine file that allows the game to work on modern computers! I've left the resolution at 1600x1200 (in-game), as, although the game allows up to 1920x1200 resolution, that causes the dials (etc) to be stretched into oval shapes. You can edit files to run the game at any resolution, however, but I like to use what the game originally shipped with!
Overall the game is probably more arcade than their other offroad titles, and doesn't seem to get as good reviews online, but the scenery can almost look spectacular, and it's nice to see how much further the Xpand Rally engine could be taken!
