Composed between 1875 and 1876, Swan Lake is one of Tchaikovsky’s most enduring ballet scores. The main theme, associated with the appearance of the swans, is characterized by sustained melody, harmonic tension, and a sense of suspended motion.
Presented here on the harpsichord, the theme is approached through clarity of line and pacing, allowing its lyricism and gravity to emerge without reliance on orchestral color.
