The Little Cuckoo-dove is an all-rufous dove with a small patch of blue around the eyes.
The male has very indistinct green &
lilac iridescence over its nape, which the female lacks. The latter spots mottled black over its breast, as seen in these birds featured in this video.
The Little Cuckoo-dove is a common montane resident, found throughout the lower mountain & hill forests of Borneo, but because it is nomadic by nature, it is usually easier to spot in the canopy of fruiting trees.
Besides Borneo, it has a wide range of distribution, from Sumatra to Java & east to New Guinea.
