Otways Semi Off-Grid Retrofit - Sustainable House Day 2025
With a long-term goal of self-sufficiency, this home has been retrofitted to produce energy, food, and space for future development. Rather than a new build, an existing weatherboard house was upgraded with solar power, a heat pump, insulation, a new roof, flooring, a fireplace, and composite decks. A wall was removed for open-plan living, and a vegetable garden was added. Future plans include a tiny home at the rear, creating opportunities for intergenerational or communal living while maintaining a small footprint.
