There was no way I wouldn't give her a place on this channel, I introduce you to the legendary disco polo female singer Shazza—real name: Magdalena Pańkowska—who released her second album, Jambalaya Mix, in 1994, recorded in 1993.
Shazza was considered to be the queen of disco polo, and no wonder! She started her music career in the late 1980s by taking part in the disco polo group Toy Boys, which also appears on this album. She began her solo career in 1992 with the album Sex Appeal, and became known in 1993 for songs like Jesteś moim ideałem and Jambalaya Mix from this album. Her first big hit was Baiao Bongo in 1994, which happens to be a cover of a 50s song, and the album—with the same title—became a best-seller.
In 1995, her career took off with the hit Bierz co chcesz, which became a fan favorite. It was part of her most successful album, Egipskie noce, which included other bangers like Tak bardzo zakochani. Her next albums, Noc róży (1996) and Tak blisko nieba (1997), showed changes in her style, including a cover of ABBA's Hasta Mañana. However, her 1998 album Historia pewnej miłości, with more dance songs, was, unfortunately, not as successful.
In 1999 and 2000, Shazza released collections of her greatest hits and posed for Polish Playboy, which sold very well. She joined EMI in 2001 and released the album Jestem sobą, changing her style from disco polo. Although it included minor hits like Jestem sobą and Może to samba, the album sold poorly, and she left the label. After taking a break and moving to the U.S., she returned in 2007 by re-recording her famous songs.
In my opinion, this is probably my favourite album by her, bangers like Jackie, Jackie, Znikający punkt, Jesteś moim ideałem and Mała Pigi are really a blessing to my ears. I also love the first song Jambalaya Mix, which happens to be a mix of the songs Jadą wozy kolorowe, Jambalaya, Sto lat czekam na twój list, Takie ładne oczy, Warszawski dzień, Rosyjskie pierniki, Dyskotekowy bal and Zawsze gdzieś czeka ktoś.
