• Artist Thinking out Loud - My Old Artworks...
In this video I show you my old artworks in my home iceland Karmøy barn studio and talk about how i evolved as a painter over time. I also talk about what in my view is important to focus on , how to think and how to keep an humble open mind and learn from ones misstakes.
I also give you a tour of my childhood landscape and my home wile talking about life and art , you can also meet my beloved parrents the ones that made this possible in the first place, my gratitude to them is infinet :)
I am a Norwegian artist and painter that creates YouTube videos about how to make oil painting . on this channel I manly focus on oil paint and how to use brushes , oil painting medium , oil colors , how to mix oil paint , how to use the palette :)
HOW I START A OIL PAINTING 🎨
I start straight on the canvas and from a point and work from dark to light by adding colors and light and from there I just let it evolve in to a painting. If i start with the face I start with the bright parts and build textures with brushwork from there. I start on a canvas that I have toned with turpentine and raw umber , I do let it dry before painting so the raw umber do not mix with the clear oil colors in the Painting process .
most of my figure paintings my paintings is done from art photo done with tungsten 6/7 Dias film or from natura.
I also paint still lifes and landscapes stillifes from natura and the landscapes from art photo that i usaly do my self unless it is a comisson artwork
My Focus as an Artist and painter is the paint itself and the aesthetics that evolves wile I transfer the motif on to the canvas. I am not a conceptual artist and my driving force for doing paintings is the personal challenge painting figurative gives me. As a painter with Artists like Rembrandt Turner Leonardo da Vinci and Jan Vermeer as my objective standard I will always have to push myself to get better In painting is where it get personal for me and where I reflect in results how successfully I have used my time and in the end my short existence in this infinite universe and time.
