Previously I have experimented with databending MPEG and AVI files using the WordPad and Audacity programs. This time I decided to experiment with other types of video file. I had a short clip that I had recorded with my digital camera. My camera saves moving images as QuickTime files. I converted the video into Windows Media Video with wmv3 codec and then opened and saved it using Audacity. When I looked at the short clip using Avidemux there was some interesting visuals but no sound. In the original clip there is just a lot of static on the soundtrack. When I opened the original QuickTime film in Avidemux the static was transformed into a gargling noise. I recorded this sound effect and added it to the film to make it more interesting. I have noticed with all the WMV files I have corrupted that they all tend to come out looking the same. A lot of grey or monochrome squares moving quickly and no audio.
