Don't fall for the flexion fetish. The real concern is extension, ie control in extension. Failure here results in unhappy athletes. (See also spondy; see also facet syndrome.)
This is why we're big fans of the butt squeeze. Turning the glutes on during movements like burpees, kipping, and going overhead helps protect the athlete and limit total spinal extension, preventing the aforementioned unhappiness.
Keep those glutes 🔛, fam. Butts squeezed = max steeze.
