The bee-eaters arrive in southern Australia from late August. These ones are located at Lake Cathie on the mid-north coast of NSW, Australia. They're establishing hunting territories and preparing to dig nest tunnels in compacted dunes on a beach frequented by people and dogs.
Using an OM-1 Mk 1 and 150-400mm f4.5 TC1.25X Pro lens, I made a few still photographs, but spent most of the morning session shooting video (4K and 240fps 1080p slow-motion).
The video was produced with Adobe Premiere Pro. The soundtrack is 'Morning haze' composed by Nick B. Brown and licensed from smartsound.com.
I sourced some of the bee-eater vocalisations from xeno-canto.org and recorded some with a Zoom H2n.
I hope you enjoy watching the Rainbow Bee-eaters.
