ProCapture images of participants at a Solid Archery Mechanics clinic coached by Mr Tom Clum Snr at Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, in March 2026. Tom travelled from his base in Denver, Colorado, to teach at the clinic hosted by Mr Ben Maher.
I used ProCapture to document the point of release of the arrow. The images can reveal the effectiveness of the archer's technique and its effect on consistency of accuracy.
I am not a bowhunter, but I enjoyed listening to Tom's advice to those attending. Much of what he offered dealt with maintaining consistency of shot placement, and the biomechanical advantages of the techniques he teaches, particularly in relation to reducing wear and tear on the archer's anatomy! As a person of Tom's vintage, I can appreciate that modifying some of his teachings to suit my pursuit of wildlife photography—with equipment that is not getting any lighter as I grow older!—may help me to continue enjoying my hunting with a camera for more years to come.
