What can be made from rolling bearings
Unneeded rolling bearings can be used for turning work. They are mainly made from high-strength steel ШХ15 or from stainless steel 95Х18 or 08Х4В9Ф2-Ш (ЭИ-347 Ш).

Both the inner and outer rings, and the rolling elements of the bearings are hardened to a maximum hardness of 64 HRC, and therefore are not suitable for turning operations without tempering or annealing.
Of greatest interest for small turning jobs are rollers from roller bearings. They must first be released or annealed.
I made engraving pens from bearing rings and engraved pictures.
From turned cages, which are made of anti-friction alloys, it is possible to make, for example, small sliding bearings.
I made a working knife from the inner ring of an aircraft roller bearing.
This ring is made of steel 08Х4В9Ф2-Ш (ЭИ-347 Ш). Bearings made of this steel are marked with the letter P. This steel contains 9% tungsten. Therefore, it is self-hardening, self-hardening.
I took this particular steel for the knife because I straightened the clip while it was hot. And after forging, the blade did not need to be specially hardened. Air cooled. And I got the required hardness - 52 HRC.

The balls from the bearing can be used to center the pulley when boring the mounting hole.
By using wooden mandrels and centering on balls, it is possible to ensure minimal runout of the working surface of the pulley groove relative to the mounting hole.
