No talk, no faces: just hiking and nature.

From the Zwieslerwaldhaus we start our hike to the Großer Falkenstein via the hiking trail "Heidelbeere" (engl.: Blueberry). At first we take a wider gravel road, but already here the wonderful forest begins. The trail "Heidelbeere" finally leads right into the forest along a narrow, cosy and natural path.

Due to a closure of the hiking trail "Heidelbeere" we have to change to the hiking trail "Silberblatt". The path now becomes steeper and the last section uphill to the 1,315 metre high mountain Großer Falkenstein requires a little bit of fitness. At the top you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the incredibly vast forest area. Together with the Czech part it is the largest contiguous forest area in Europe.

Finally, the trail leads over the mountain Kleiner Falkenstein and the hiking trail "Eibe" back towards Zwieslerwaldhaus. At the Mittelsteighütte we are in one of the few parts close to the primeval forest. This has been left to its own devices for more than 250 years.

The hike to the mountain Großer Falkenstein in the Bavarian Forest includes:
14.3 kilometers, 4.5 hours and 656 meters of altitude difference
