FRANKIE MILLER Darlin'
Another case of a great singer/songwriter who scored big with somebody else's song!
Scottish icon Frankie Miller had been kicking around for most of the 1970's when his 1977 hit 'Be good to yourself' (see my clip) gave him big success at home and across the world.
It was the late 1978 track 'Darlin'' not one of his compositions, which returned him to the pop world and provided a Top 10 British hit as well a #8 in Australia. I do prefer the Bonnie Raitt 1980 version which was featured on the Urban Cowboy soundtrack, but also have a strong affection for Frankie's better known recording.
Frankie Miller is best known as a songwriter having penned hits for many artists across a panoply of genres, but the folky/country/pop/rock performer has quite a unique sound and style. I hope all who experience Frankie Miller's 'Darlin' enjoy it.
