I never thought the day would come when we decided to leave our office to start working from home again. After 2020, we figured that we would love being able to get out of the home office to work at our office. However, after almost a year, we've decided it's time to leave our office behind and start working from home. Here's why.

Long Description:

Back in October 2020, we started looking for an office that would fit our company for the next few years. After viewing a few different properties, we stumbled across one that fit nearly everything we were looking for - covered parking, quiet, private, and great views with a fantastic location.

Our new office was a mere 2.5 minutes away from our house; it couldn't get any better than that commute. However, over the last year, we've quickly started to outgrow our space. Our conference room is packed, the front lobby is now used for storage, and our private offices are filled with equipment and decor.

We quickly started to outgrow the space that was once perfect, and with our lease coming to an end, we started looking for a few different options. While in the middle of our search, we had new neighbors move into the unit next to our - causing a ton of chaos and commotion. From that moment on, we decided that it was time to start working from home again.

I firmly believe most people are better off (more productive) working in an office environment. It allows for a much easier work/life separation, and it helps define your work times while eliminating distractions like laundry and cleaning and housework. However, these are things that Nic and I have become great at mitigating over the years.

For us, we've found the perfect balance to stay productive. Add to that, we have always been more productive at home for the simple fact that we are always working flexible hours. After moving our offices to a separate building, we were not longer able to have a dedicated workspace at home. Doing so caused me to go off-balance with work and life, and I ended up spending more and more time at the office.

I felt guilty for not being at the office, but I had no way to work from home due to having no workspace.

All of this lead to a choice to move back to a work from home life, and luckily, we have found a property that literally fits everything. Our new home will have space downstairs for a conference room, inventory, office, as well as common living space. The third level has addition rooms for offices, giving us the perfect layout that we've been looking for for years.
