Self-managing an Airbnb is normally filled with a large amount of highs and lows throughout the day. Most of the time, days go smoothly and as planned, but every now and then, a day does not go according to plan. THIS is our take on a realistic day in the life of an Airbnb host.

I want to start out by saying that normally we choose to only post videos on the channel that are positive, uplifting, exciting, and entertaining. This, however, did not turn out that way. We chose to upload this video because we thought it was important to share that not every day in the life is perfect. Sometimes, things just don't go as according to plan, and sometimes we have to choose to make the best out of the situations we're presented with.
In this day in the life of an Airbnb host video, the day starts out as normal. Each day, Nic and I start our morning with a walk around 7:30 am, which normally takes about 20 minutes. From there, we return home and get ready for the work day.
We normally get to the office around 9 AM. As mentioned in the video, we both find it ironic that we worked our entire lives self-employed to avoid working a 9 to 5 job - only to end up working from about 9 to 6. Over the years, our schedule has changed dramatically and usually adapts to our current situation. Right now, with a newborn and wife at home, I choose to work at the office from 9 am until about 6 pm. This allows me to separate my work from my home life as much as possible. However, I do normally end up working at home after dinner on most nights.
After getting to the office, I started the day by signing checks for the HOA and resort fee that we owe the condo association each month. From there, I moved onto working on some of our other businesses. At the moment, we currently run a few different business. From Airbnb to content companies, online games, and our latest project - EmojiCrisp. All in, we're working on quite a few different things at once, which has left our plates quite full through the day. That alone is one of the reasons we've decided to sell our #airbnb.
Moving forward from that, our day in the life of a self-employed airbnb host moves onto heading off to lunch, which went well. From there, we decided to go back to the office and order something on DoorDash to save some of the time we had wasted going to a closed restaurant. After lunch, we started packing up the turn box for doing the condo turn. This includes some basic amenities, food, snacks, and breakfast food. We firmly believe that every Airbnb host should offer amenities like this to increase their guest experience.
After packing up the Airbnb turn box, we made our way up the coast towards our condo - located in the Fountain Beach Resort in Daytona Beach, FL. This is where the video took a turn. When we walked in, we noticed that the cleaning company had done a less than acceptable job at cleaning the unit. From crumbs being left in our airbnb appliances to dirt all over the floor, we realized that it had not been cleaned properly. This was especially annoying because the clean that happened earlier that day in our Airbnb was a reclean from the day before where it had also not been done properly.
Needless to say, we were quite displeased with the cleaning company after the mess that they left our Airbnb rental. Most hosts will talk about how guests are the most difficult part of hosting an airbnb. We couldn't disagree more. Our guests at our Airbnb have always been respectful, easy to communicate with, and leave the room orderly within reason. The cleaning company for our Airbnb has been a problem from day one. Unfortunately, they're the only available cleaning company of the kind in Daytona Beach, FL - a town filled with many Airbnbs.
While we normally don't enjoy posting videos with a negative twist, we felt it was essential to showcase how difficult running an Airbnb by yourself can actually be. To that, we both highly recommend hiring a property manager for your Airbnb rental to make you life easier.
With that said, we do hope you enjoyed this video and subscribe to the channel for future content.
