Hey guys, it’s Chris. In today’s video, I’ll be talking about Sinister War. Let’s get into it!

Key events that preceded this climax involved the Kindred's manipulation. The demon Kindred, later revealed to be the deceased Harry Osborn, or a clone, had been secretly controlling Spider-Man's life and villains for some time. Kindred plotted events to cause pain and suffering to Peter Parker as part of a vendetta related to past events and a deal made with the demon Mephisto. In the 'One More Day' storyline, Peter makes a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May's life at the cost of his marriage to Mary Jane being erased and everyone forgetting Spider-Man's secret identity. Doctor Octopus's Resurrection and Recruitment: Doctor Octopus was resurrected and, while trying to find clues about his missing memories, was infected by one of Kindred's centipedes. Kindred persuaded Doctor Octopus to reassemble the Sinister Six by promising him to recover his lost memories and address other members' issues, which he proceeded to do. Sinister Six members include Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Kraven the Hunter, Electro, Lizard, and lastly Mysterio. Finally, the formation of the Savage Six: At the same time, the Vulture assembled his own team of villains, including King Cobra, Rhino, Scorpion, Stegron, and Tarantula. This led to two rival villain factions operating simultaneously, adding a layer of complexity and intrigue to the storyline.

Sinister War is a 2021 Spider-Man event miniseries that concluded writer Nick Spencer's run on The Amazing Spider-Man (Issues 55-74). This story immerses you in Spider-Man's world, where he's caught in a tense battle between rival villain groups, such as the Sinister Six and Savage Six. Other groups include the Foreigners' Wild Pack, a group of international mercenaries; The Superior Foes, a team of lesser-known villains with a flair for heists; and The Sinister Syndicate, a group of female, technologically advanced criminals. All are orchestrated or manipulated by Kindred. The stakes are that whoever manages to end Spider-Man's life will be spared from eternal damnation. Kindred, the true puppet master, is orchestrating a grand endgame against Spider-Man, pulling the strings of all the villains.

Now, let's look at the positives: the bombastic high-stakes action and Mark Bagley’s accomplished art style. First, the bombastic high-stakes action. Right from the start, this storyline is packed with excitement. The scenes are explosive and feature a wide array of Spider-Man's rogues' gallery. The storyline showcases a diverse cast of over 36 different supervillains, each bringing their unique powers and strategies to the table, adding an element of unpredictability and excitement to the narrative. Each page is full of explosions, chaos, and Spidey quips, making for a diverse and engaging read. The event delivers on its promise of a massive, all-out battle royale, providing an entertaining, popcorn-worthy comic storyline. If you enjoy action-heavy stories, Sinister War delivers chaos, and you'll be in for one wild ride. Next is Mark Bagley’s accomplished art style. Veteran Spider-Man artist Mark consistently delivers compelling artwork throughout most of the series (The Amazing Spider-Man). He skillfully captures intense, fast-paced action. His timeless, recognizable style remains strong, maintaining grounded and well-executed scenes.

However, the biggest flaw in this climax is the weak and uninspired villain, Kindred. He may not be the most exciting character. Still, his role as a scheming puppet master is crucial to the storyline, as he advances the plot and manipulates the other villains. The action drowns out Kindred. Yes, he has built a complex plan over various arcs, but the variety of different villains and groups makes them far more interesting.

Sinister War lives up to its name. Watching Spider-Man face over 36 villains is thrilling, and this storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat. Additionally, this story features numerous battles, pitting villains against each other. The story alone will draw you in, and Mark Bagley's art style shows respect and care for Spider-Man and his Amazing storyline. Kindred suffers from dull and uninspired development. His design is creative, and his centipedes are creepy; Mephisto adds a more hellish and devilish spin to this storyline. Sinister War provides all the action, humor, and story you'd anticipate from a Spider-Man adventure, but don’t expect Kindred to make a lasting impression.

I’m Spider-ManChris and I will see you in the next one!
