Hey guys it’s Chris in today’s video we are talking about Spider-Man: No Way Home. I reviewed No Way Home back in 2022 and that video was a mess. I feel No Way Home deserves a better video now more than ever.
Original No Way Home review: • Spider-Man No Way Home is…(Review)
No Way Home picks up immediately after Far From Home. Mysterio revealed Spider-Man's identity to the world. Peter and his friends' lives are affected by this action. Peter seeks help from Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange remembers the spell, the Runes of Kol Kol. A forgetting spell. This will make everyone in the world forget Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Peter compromises the spell six times and Dr.Strange is furious. As a result, past villains who knew Peter Parker from different universes, started appearing in Peter’s universe. This has cracked open a doorway to the Multiverse itself. This single act has threatened the fabric of reality. Peter wants to cure the past villains, but soon learns every action has consequences.
Let’s begin with the positives. The past villains, and the three Spider-Men. First, the past villains. The film features all previous villains from the live action Spider-Man movies. We Essentially see past villains from Tobey and Andrew universes. Excluding Venom and Harry Osborn as Green Goblin. Peter’s first encounter with a past villain is Dr.Octopus and briefly Green Goblin. The bridge sequence is thrilling and features the iconic “Hello Peter”. Spider-Man teams up with Sandman to stop Electro. This sequence is electrifying and pays homage to The Amazing Spider-Man Two and Spider-Man Three. All the villains in the film have their moments to shine and most of them have a good amount of screen time.
No Way Home was the first live action Spider-Man film to feature three different Spider-Men. The Statue of Liberty battle features all three of them in glorious action. Peter 1, Peter 2, and Peter 3. This battle is one of the best final battles in a comic book movie period. It’s entertaining, humorous, and emotional. The three Spider-Men battling Sandman, Lizard, and Electro is spectacular. All three Spider-Men swinging and landing together is just perfection. Doctor Octopus helping the three Spider-Men cure Electro was redemption for the villain. Peter 2 reuniting with Otto was heartwarming. Peter 1 battling Green Goblin on Cap's shield was incredible and ends the final battle on a high note. Doctor Strange closes the tears in the universe and successfully casts the spell. Everyone forgets Peter Parker is Spider-Man, as if he never existed. The villains and Spider-Men return to their respective universe.
Let’s begin with the negatives. The cinematography and CGI. The cinematography in most scenes looks flat and dull. In most Spider-Man films the cinematography looks gorgeous, but it’s lacking in No Way Home. Unfortunately the CGI is the biggest negative and it’s disappointing.
Spider-Man No Way Home has definitely earned its title for being the highest grossing Spider-Man film. The Multiverse story is bunkers. No Way Home is packed to the brim with nostalgia, but in some aspects it feels like it’s embracing the future. No Way Home is a memorable, captivating and cinematic event for the Spider-Man franchise. It's a once in a life-time cinematic event that manages to cap off Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy in an emotional and exciting way.
I’m Spider-ManChris and I will see you in the next one!
