Hey guys It’s Chris and in today’s video we are finally talking about Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. Shattered Dimensions was released back in 2010 and was Developed by Beenox and published by Activision.
The story revolves around an artifact known as the Tablet of Order and Chaos. When it is shattered into pieces during a fight between The Amazing Spider-Man and Mysterio, it causes problems with multiple dimensions across the Marvel Multiverse. Madame Web recruits The Amazing Spider-Man and three other Spider-Men. Noir, 2099, and Ultimate. They must restore balance by retrieving the tablet fragments from villains within their respective dimensions. Shattered Dimension is the only Spider-Man game to date where you play as four different Spider-Men. Each one with different unique art styles.
The combat consists of web swinging, web zip, using spider senses, and crawling walls. A large variety of fighting moves. Each Spider-Men with different fighting styles. The Amazing Spider-Man uses inventive web attacks. His combat is simplified and less flashy. Ultimate Spider-Man uses the Symbiote suit for large-scale combat. In my opinion Ultimate Spider-Man has the best combat style in the game. He is my favorite Spider-Man out of the four. It’s entertaining using the Symbiote Suit and rage mode. Plus the design of the suit is straight S tier. Noir uses stealth and shadows to his advantage. In some aspects the stealth can feel awkward and the AI can spot you way too easily. 2099 uses fast attacks and he has a slow down time ability. 2099 levels usually feature free falling sequences. These sequences are fun and change up the gameplay in this dimension.
Next the boss fights. All boss fights are usually fought twice in a level. During the second battle, they possess a new series of powers. They are granted these powers by the Tablet of Order and Chaos fragments. Specific parts of the boss fights the camera switches to first person. I will say it’s entertaining as hell punching the villains in the face in first person. These sequences I thought were underdeveloped and were a bit clunky.
Shattered Dimensions features numerous villains from Spider-Man comics. Amazing features Kraven the Hunter, Sandman, and Juggernaut. The Amazing Spider-Man does have some solid levels, but none of them really stand out to me. Noir features Hammerhead, Vulture, and The Green Goblin. My favorite boss fight in this dimension is Vulture. His boss fight is creepy and atmospheric. The creepy factor really fits well with the Noir aesthetic. Ultimate features Electro, Deadpool and Carnage. My favorite boss fight in this dimension is Carnage. Witnessing a Shield Nanocarrier crash into the ground was ultimately cool. Fighting Carnage is heart pounding and a blast. In my opinion his level and boss fight is the best in the game. His level feels like Dead Space infused with Spider-Man. Action, horror, and suspenseful. 2099 features Hobgoblin, Scorpion, and a female variant of Doctor Octopus. My favorite boss fight in this dimension is against Doctor Octopus. I praise this boss fight for its dynamic arena and interesting use of the environment. There are a ton of memorable villains and Shattered Dimensions is packed with some really good ones.
Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions is a unique Spider-Man experience. Its Multiverse story is dimensional shattering and mind altering. The story really captures the spirit of these characters from the comics. The graphics look great and the different art styles look straight ripped from comic books. The variety of villains makes the levels feel like you are truly changing dimensions. The gameplay does get repetitive and the camera at times can be annoying. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions may have its flaws, but it's a remarkable experience for any Spider-Man fan. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions is the most unique Spider-Man game ever released to date.
