A very useful – and often underused – feature in YouTube is the ability to add Chapter Markers to any video you post by simply adding timestamps and chapter names at the end of your video description. Viewers will see small breaks in the red playback timeline where each chapter starts, and the title of the chapter will be shown right below it. Viewers are also able to jump between chapters by pressing CTRL and the forward or back arrows.
On today’s show, we’ll cover a script that will let you easily add chapter timestamps and titles to a text file that can then be pasted to the bottom of your YouTube description when your production is finished. We’ll be pulling each chapter’s title from an Excel based data source and working with date/time data types in our scripts to calculate the needed timestamps.
