USING SCRIPTING FOR A DYNAMIC GUEST CAROUSEL

In last week’s Post Show, a question came up about using the techniques we had just covered to create a “Carousel” effect – a dynamic visual that has a chain of boxes (containing images or videos) moving across the screen. This question resurfaced in a YouTube comment a few days later when two new shortcuts – SetLayerAnimated and SwapLayerAnimated were added to the vMix 27 Beta. This got me thinking about the best way to actually implement this type of effect.

On today’s show we’ll use scripting to create a Carousel with a main center box and side boxes stacked behind it as they diminish in size. The techniques used in this script didn’t require any of the new shortcuts added in the vMix 27 Beta, but did require a small work around to handle a side-effect from the way vMix seems to process layers. In our Post Show Hangout, I’ll talk a bit about the new SetLayerAnimated and SwapLayerAnimated shortcuts – and why I couldn’t use them here.
