Arrow & Longbow Storage & Maintenance - Traditional Archery Vlog
How I keep my arrows and English Longbow in good order is what this video blog is about. I was recently asked by an archer friend of mine if I would explain about bow and arrow storage and maintenance.
I talk about checking my arrows for cracks and breaks in the shafts, nocks in good shape, fletchings and points securely glued on. I also explan about the fletchings being in good shape e.g. do they need a steam.
You will also meet our resident lizard that came to say hello on the balcony banister behind me.
I show how I store the wooden arrows in the homemade arrow rack that I made out of a cardboard box. It works pretty well.
I then move onto my English Longbow. I like to keep in a cloth bag, stored in a moderately temperature room and preferably hanging up off the ground. Checking the bow for cracks etc, is a must because wooden bows are prone to breaking before stringing it and always good to look for any possible signs of weakness.
When stringing the bow particularly after a period of time of no use, I explain to string it either at half brace to begin with or full brace, then leave it for a while before beginning the half draw warm ups.

A little about me: I am a British traditional, instinctive, female archer who enjoys shooting the English Longbow. I like to explore and experiment with different styles. techniques in many positions and forms. And am always trying out as many creative ways to do so as that i can think of. I also enjoy constructing different targets using many varieties of objects, materials, etc.
I'm happily married to my husband who happens to be my cameraman and does an amazing job of capturing photos and videos of my archery shooting practice sessions. You will hear and see him from time to time.
My main shooting ground is the garden, be it the back, front, side of the yard, doesn't matter to me. Although distance of the shot can be limited, it enables me to practice in my own time and more space to experiment with my shooting training.
