What is the distance of my archery shooting range ? Backyard traditional archery
Hi everyone, I am measuring the garden due to several questions about how much in distance are the target shots in my recent uploads. To be honest, because I haven't measured the lengths, I don't know and have only been able to guesstimate.
So, today with the help of my cameraman, (hubby), I'm going to find out how long my archery shooting range.
This garden (backyard) is an amazingly versatile range for the traditional, instinctive archer and has a good size distance to play with.
My homemade measuring stick was simply a long piece of wood cut into a two metre length that was laying around in the shed.
I began by measuring the main shooting area, excuse the mess where a target is under construction! Then continued past what I call the' woodpecker tree ' (you'ill know why in the video); then walked back to the 'construction target' and measured my main shooting area for the longer distance shot, which I call the 'tree clearing' ; then lastly to the line of the wood at the back end of the yard.
Hubby and I had a lot of fun measuring this as you will see in the video. He is such a comic sometimes!
As promised in the video, here are the total measurements of the whole shooting range from one end to the other. I've put them in metres, feet & inches and also in yards.
56 metres;
183.727 ft and Inches;
61.2423 yards;

A little about me: I am a British traditional, instinctive, female archer who enjoys shooting the English Longbow. I like to explore and experiment with different styles. techniques in many positions and forms. And am always trying out as many creative ways to do so as that i can think of. I also enjoy constructing different targets using many varieties of objects, materials, etc.
I'm happily married to my husband who happens to be my cameraman and does an amazing job of capturing photos and videos of my archery shooting practice sessions. You will hear and see him from time to time.
My main shooting ground is the garden, be it the back, front, side of the yard, doesn't matter to me. Although distance of the shot can be limited, it enables me to practice in my own time and more space to experiment with my shooting training.
