Student EcoJust TechDesign - Hair Mask
In this video, a student in a 10-th grade science course in Ontario is interviewed by her teacher about her engineering product - in this case, a 'hair mask' (curly-hair smoothing cream) and dispenser - that she designed and developed. The mixture is made of sustainable substances; but, as she points out, labourers harvesting coconut in the product are not treated well. The 3D-printed dispenser that she designed and made is made of biodegradable material. This students speaks passionately about needs to think about wellbeing of humans' environments. The course taught by the teacher used many aspects of the STEPWISE pedagogy, including direct instruction - with relevant application activities - of key concepts, like: compromises in engineering design; actor-network theory; and, dispositifs.
